This is a very nice Center Table, commonly called Gueridon by the French, made by the middle part of the 19th century during the reign of Napoleon III from exquisitely patinaed sycamore; highlighted by a beautiful and original Gray St Ann Marble honoring the intricate shape of the serpentine belt. The belt is elegantly simple and slightly scrolled, it features a single drawer located on each side. The pediment consists of a boldly sculpted and turned shaft supported by 4 cabriole legs mounted on brass wheels and heavily accented with bear and leaves patterns indicating the provenance of this gueridon from the North East of France.
