This is an elegantly simple and exquisitely patinaed Bed made by the end of the 19th century and directly inspired of the Empire style, boasting a stunning burl mahogany veneer and consisting of a large arched headboard highlighted by a bronze ormolus connected to the curved footboard by straight rails. The footboard is beautifully accented with inlaid design depicting Urn with floral garlands in between 2 turned columns mounted with ormolus. The pediment consists of 4 turned tapered legs on bronze sabots. Note several minor scratches and dents can be seen here and there due to the age. Circa date 1890. Mattress Frame 54 3/8"wide/ 73"long. |
