This is an elegantly simple game table made by the beginning of the 19th century during the transition from the Directoire to the First Empire period combining mahogany, rosewood and maple for and appealing result. This adorable piece is consisting of a folding top with one side presenting a checkerboard which, once opened reveals a green felt for card games. The checkerboard consists of a mahogany frame highlighted by inlaid borders, surrounding the squares made with rosewood and maple veneers. The pediment consists of a straight belt supported by 4 straight legs. Note that the felt is not original and was placed by the previous owner; it is in slight used condition. Several minor scratches and dents can be seen here and there due to the age. Circa date 1800. Dimensions 30"high/ 29"wide/ 14 ½"deep while in check game.
