This is a tall and splendid gilded mirror made by the end of the reign of Napoleon III during the second period of the 19th century. This large piece is boasts a stunning embellishment from the detailed cartouche consisting of an interlacement of acanthus leaves with floral and foliate patterns to the arched frame below simply but elegantly matching the cartouche and surrounding the original and non-beveled mirror. Note the little birds standing at the upper corners. The mirror is original but has several dark spots and large scratches due to the age. Circa date 1870. Dimensions 88"high/ 54"wide.
