This is a very appealing Prayer Chair made from a nicely patinaed walnut by the end of the reign of Napoleon III during the second half of the 19th century. This handsome antique boasts a splendid serpentine-shaped frame, adorned with floral and acanthus patterns, and centering a cross mounted on an intricately sculpted pierced-carved interlaced design. The floral needlepoint is not original and estimated to be approx 10 years old; it is in used condition. Circa date 1870. Dimensions 34"high 8"seat height/ 19"wide/ 17"deep.
