This is a splendid gilded Holy Basin made by the end of the reign of Napoleon III by the 1870’s consisting of an intricately carved Cross embellished by scrolled foliate masterfully hand carved from ivory surrounded by a heavily accented frame ornate with acanthus and foliate patterns with the classical shell below. Circa date 1870. Dimensions 16"high/ 10 ¾"wide/ 3 ½"deep.
