| This is a very pretty armoire originally from Normandy and made from solid pine by the last quarter of the 18th century. This large piece is mounted by a chapeau de gendarme cornice sitting on a gadrooned frieze with detailed medallion embellished with floral basket upon a splendid pair of arched and recessed paneled doors, each highlighted with acanthus patterns and centering gadrooned medallions accented with foliate and floral motifs. The interior compartment offers an efficient storage capacity with 3 shelves; the interior painting is not original and estimated to be 20 years old. This elegant armoire is standing on a simply scrolled apron carved with flower head and flanked by boldly sculpted cabriole legs. Circa date 1780. Dimensions 97"high/ 57"wide/ 21"deep. |
