An interesting pair of cassolettes cast from spelter by the end of the 19th century. Both are intricately embellished from the cover mounted with acanthus rosettes to the cup adorned with garlands and foliate and separated by goat’s head to the legs standing on the griotte marble base highlighted by a pierced foliate frieze. Note that this pair was originally painted to match the marble. Circa date 1890. Dimensions 19"high/ 5"wide/ 4 ½"deep. |
