| This is an impressive chest of drawers made by the end of the 19th century and boasting an elegant rosewood veneer. This stunning piece is topped by its original "Gray St Ann" marble, originally from "Des Pyrenees Atlantiques, south east of France, honoring the step front façade providing a single drawer upon 2 drawers "Sans Traverse", all mounted with their original bronze handles and escutcheons. This piece is considered to be Transition because it combines both Louis XV and Louis XVI style patterns. The upper part is typical of the Louis XVI style with the straight lines and bronze ormolus while the scrolled pediment is Louis XV style with the cabriole and acanthus-shaped sabots. Circa date 1890. Dimensions 34"high/ 44"wide/ 19"deep. |
