A splendid Empire period Armoire made from solid oak at the beginning of the 19th century mounted by a large flat molded cornice sitting upon an elegantly simple pair of recessed paneled doors separated by boldly sculpted turned columns and revealing a large interior compartment offering 3 shelves. The pediment offers additional storage with 2 large bottom drawers. Hardware is in original condition except for locks and keys, which have been replaced at some point. Note the intricate hammered brass escutcheon. Circa date 1810. Dimensions 87"high/ 69"wide/ 22"deep. |
