A sumptuous Empire period meridienne handcrafted from solid mahogany at the beginning of the 19th century. This elegantly simple piece is accented with Lion’s heads from the top of the seat back to the padded armrest while the apron is centering shell flanked by foliate, all standing on cabriole legs mounted on craw feet. The burgundy and gold silk fabric is inspired by the Empire style but is from the beginning of the 20th century it is necessary to replace it due to several water spots. Note that the springs have been recently replaced by the previous owner . Circa date 1800. Dimensions 40"high/ 18"seat height/ 60"long/ 26"deep. |
