Handsome and huge bookcase inspired by the Empire style and made from a beautifully patinaed chestnut during the reign of Napoleon III by the half of the 19th century. This impressive and elegantly simple piece of furniture is originally from Ales (South of France), it is topped by a flat molded cornice sitting upon 4 paneled glass doors separated by lovely tapered turned columns made from oak. The tremendous interior compartment offers an efficient display area with 3 large adjustable shelves. Note that 4 glass panels are in original conditions while the other 4 were replaced at some point. Circa date 1850. Dimensions 111"high/ 115"wide/ 24"deep. |
