Here is an elaborate crucifix made by the end of the reign of Napoleon III by the late 1870’s. This appealing piece is centering a brass crucifix mounted by the classical I.N.R.I. banner, both on brown velvet background (the velvet is original and in used condition, it is worn at several areas) and surrounded by an intricate hammered brass frame with angels, floral and foliate patterns. Circa date 1870. Dimensions 14"high/ 11"wide. |
