This is a splendid and impressive desk made by the end of the reign of Napoleon III during the second half of the 19th century. This massive piece boasts an appealing patina and consists of a large rectangular top, covered with walnut veneer, upon a 4-drawer frieze (the right drawers are actually a single one providing 2 large storage compartment) and barley twisted pediment with both pairs of legs joined by a H-shaped stretcher mounted with finial. Note that only the side drawers can be locked. Circa date 1870. Dimensions 29"high/ 62"wide/ 35"deep.
