This is a very cute Prayer Chair made from solid beech wood by the end of the reign of Napoleon III. This adorable piece is representing the Easter Cross as its was depicted in Europe with the black Cross mounted with drape and the tools used to torture and kill Christ. Such representation is very common especially in France and Italy. Note that the fabric must be replaced and that a small part of the spear is missing. Circa date 1870. The needlepoint upholstery is estimated to be from the middle part of the 20th century, it is in used condition so are the springs and would need to be replaced or at least reinforced.
