This piece is topped by its original cararra marble sitting upon a lovely façade highlighted by bold molding and consisting of a wide upper drawer revealing a very convenient pull out writing area offering a 3-drawer frieze and a reddish leather trimmed with gilded borders above a pair of recessed paneled doors revealing a storage compartment with 3 large open interior drawers. Note that hardware is in original condition but the previous owner added the reddish leather. Several scratches and dents can be seen due to the age. Circa date 1840. This item while featuring the classical French Louis XV style was actually made in Spain by a cabinet maker located in Barcelona (Note the picture of his stamp). This elegantly simple desk consists of a serpentine shaped top sitting on a nicely scrolled belt featuring a 3-drawer frieze mounted with acanthus shaped handles, all supported by graceful cabriole legs highlighted by pierced foliate cast chutes trailing to similarly sabots. Several minor scratches and dents can be seen here and there due to the age. Circa date 1930. Dimensions 32"high/ 71"wide/ 35"deep.
